Community Policing Division

The Hillsdale Police Department’s Community Policing Division is dedicated to strengthening trust, communication, and cooperation between the department and the residents we serve. Through consistent outreach and daily engagement, the division works to foster positive relationships with community members, local businesses, schools, and organizations. This proactive approach helps ensure that public safety is not only maintained through enforcement, but also through partnership, education, and shared problem-solving throughout the Borough.

Led by Sergeant Sayers and Patrol Officer DeGennaro, the Community Policing Division focuses on keeping Hillsdale connected and informed. Whether it’s addressing quality-of-life concerns, supporting neighborhood initiatives, or creating opportunities for residents to meet officers in a relaxed setting, the division emphasizes approachability and transparency. Their goal is to build lasting relationships that encourage open dialogue, increase community confidence, and promote a safer, more united Hillsdale.

A major part of the division’s success is its commitment to community events that bring people together and support meaningful causes. The Hillsdale Police Department proudly hosts and participates in programs and events such as Project CRASH, Chief for a Day, the Youth Leadership Academy, National Night Out, the “I Pink I Can” Breast Cancer Walk, Toys for Tots, and Coffee with a Cop—along with many other initiatives throughout the year. These events allow the community to interact with officers in a positive environment, strengthen community spirit, and reinforce that the Hillsdale Police Department is here to serve, support, and stand alongside the people of Hillsdale.
